Flowers
Dimensions: 90"w × 16"h x 2”d
Materials: Digitally mastered collages on paper, mounted end-to-end, matted
on illustration board and floated in a wood frame.
This piece (actually 5 individual pieces laminated together) was done in Photoshop
and evolved over a seven-year period. I chose to create an eye-catching piece of art, which, from a
distance, looks like colorful flowers with "Color Form" like leaves, positioned randomly
on a black patterned background. But, when one gets up close one can see that the flowers
are made from the syringes that caused my daily pain.
“My focus continues to be seeing beyond the fatigue and discomfort and finding the beauty in life".

This piece represents the most "influential members" of my health team over the past 29 years: Becca Journe, Physical Therapist, Prachi Vira, Physical Therapist and Ashley Smith, Clinical Exercise Specialist. Exercise has always been an important part of my life and as my Multiple Sclerosis symptoms began to affect my body more and more, I had to learn how to adapt my exercise program to accommodate my abilities. So, it was vital for me to find physical therapists and clinicians who understood MS and who cared about finding ways to adapt exercises to my ever changing body, which can be challenging when you're dealing with a loss of control. These women helped to make exercise fulfilling and do-able for me. They are exceptional, knowledgeable, compassionate women who are passionate about their jobs and are genuinely dedicated to caring for and supporting their patients. I'm extremely grateful for their guidance and support.
